High throughput Robotic Palletiser launched at Potato Event
Nicholson Machinery have been appointed specialist distributors of ABB robotic palletisers for the fresh produce sector in recognition of their extensive packhouse schemes, notably with onion packers.
Whilst the benefits of palletising are well established, modern palletisers can be ‘space hungry’ in tight locations. Robotic arms, long familiar in assembly line applications, are gaining popularity in the fresh produce market.
Nicholsons have adopted the IRB 6400 a dedicated Palletiser that combines speed, reach and payload like no other robot on the market. It is an exceptionally fast 4-axis machine that combines a 3.15 meter reach with a 250 kg payload, making it ideal for palletising 2.5 to 25 Kg bags, 10 kg boxes and supermarket trays. The IRB 6400 is considerably faster than its predecessors, its optimised motor power and motion performance ensuring significantly shorter cycle times than alternative products.
The IRB 6400 has a robust design suited for palletising. The power, signals and field bus communication up to the wrist is integrated and well protected. Furthermore, the robot’s rugged design and IP67 tightness make for steady performance in even the toughest environments. As well as ensuring extra lengthy service intervals!
The unit has integrated double air, power and field bus communication, durable even in tough environments. The IRB 6400 Palletiser comes in a high-speed version capable of handling 180 kg payloads at full speed, and as a 250 kg version for high throughput. The robot’s impressive reach means it can service up to four in-feed conveyors, two pallet stacks, one slip-sheet stack and four palletising out-feeding lines. In fact, the IRB 660 has the versatility, reach and handling capacity to meet the demands of just about any palletising application.
Nicholson are offering the robotic system in association with Pace Mechanical Handling Ltd and installation is by fully trained ABB engineers.
